Um, yes. Nathan Jurgenson is a researcher at Snapchat who does excellent work on the ways that mobile technology is part of our social lives. And Facebook employs a huge number of social scientists who ask similar questions.

Hiring ethical researchers to ask important questions isn’t a weakness. It’s a strength. Companies who fail to ask those questions risk being disruptive in the worst possible ways.
